Tarot and Lenormand Cards Discuss Family Altercation: 30 Lilies, 6 Clouds, 12 Birds, 13 Child, 25 Ring, 28 Gentleman

Lenormand cards are difficult to misinterpret. They pretty much “tell it like it is” in a matter-of-fact, plain and simple way. I love this quality about them and when I want or need a “quick read” on a situation, I almost always pull out a Lenormand deck first.

When I want to dig deeper, I turn to Tarot. Talk about juicy… Tarot virtually drips with psychological insights, motivations, expectations, mindsets and more. It continually amazes me how much information a handful of Tarot cards can reveal.

Recently, a female Querent (person asking the question) sought assistance regarding an altercation between herself and another family member over parenting practices. In the heat of a vicious quarrel (which had quickly gotten out of hand), harsh words had been spoken, leaving both family members feeling misunderstood, hurt and angry.

I decided to cast a Lenormand Line of 5, specifically wanting to see what help might be available:

Q: Family Altercation: Is There a Solution? If So, What?

Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card 30 Lilies - 6 Clouds - 12 Birds - 13 Child - 25 Ring - 28 Gentleman http://livingwithcards.com
Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 30 Lilies – 6 Clouds – 12 Birds – 13 Child – 25 Ring – 28 Gentleman

Mlle Lenormand Cartomancy Jeu du destin Deck of 36 Cards

As usual, the Lenormand cards mirrored the situation quite accurately. The Line of 5 described the conflict. The base card (bottom card of the shuffled deck), in conjunction with the hinge card (central card in the Line of 5), suggested a practical approach to resolution:

“Ongoing/ cyclical (Ring) bickering (Birds) between siblings and/or about a child/ children (Birds + Child) is causing misunderstandings and is disrupting family harmony (Lilies + Clouds). An agreement (Ring) must be reached before harmony (Lilies) can be restored.”

“A man (Gentleman) can help resolve the issue, perhaps a mediator (Birds + Gentleman).”

I found the “advice” — “a man can help, perhaps a mediator” (Birds + Gentleman) particularly encouraging because there was actually a professional man both family members knew and respected who fit the bill. This man would likely not only be willing to intervene, but would also likely be listened to by both parties. I passed the information along.

*************************************

Still, wanting to learn more about the situation, I turned to Tarot. I was about to pick up one of my usual reading decks when a card image from the Thoth deck came to mind.

Thoth Tarot VIII-Adjustment (Justice) http://livingwithcards.com
Thoth Tarot VIII-Adjustment (Justice)

Crowley-Thoth Tarot Deck

Yikes.

According to noted anthropologist/ Tarot authority Angeles Arrien*, VIII-ADJUSTMENT (JUSTICE) in the Crowley-Thoth tarot deck reflects the principles of alignment, balance, negotiation and truth.  My desire to know the truth of the matter regarding this particular situation must have triggered the spontaneous visualization of this card image. Surely it was not coincidence… [*See Ms. Arrien’s classic exploration of the Thoth tarot deck: The Tarot Handbook: Practical Applications of Ancient Visual Symbols ]

**************************************

Note: As I’m sure you know, the Crowley-Thoth tarot deck is not for the faint-hearted. If you’re going to use it, you need to put on your thick skin. A couple dozen years ago when I was first introduced to C-T,  a wise friend shared this secret:

“Thoth never lies.”

Over the years, I have consistently found this to be true.

**************************************

The extremely yang, in-your-face Crowley-Thoth tarot deck does not sugar-coat. When attuned to its “voice” (a challenge sometimes, especially if you’re emotionally involved in the reading’s subject matter), you may find it to be less vulnerable to misinterpretation than the majority of decks out there in the Tarotverse…

Since I was performing the reading as an outside observer and not personally in the thick of it, I decided to go ahead and see what Thoth had to say about the matter, using one of my go-to tarot spreads, The Five Pointed Star with Significator:

Q: Family Altercation: Psychological Dynamics and Probable Outcome

Five Pointed Star with Significator Tarot Spread – The Positions

  • Significator – Theme or Subject Matter
  • Position 1 – Basis, Reason, Cause
  • Position 2 – Mindset, Beliefs, Expectations
  • Position 3 – Additional Information, Factors to be Considered
  • Position 4 – Answer/ Solution/ Advice
  • Position 5 – Probable Outcome

If you keep the positional meanings in mind, it is not hard to weave together the story.

The theme, or subject of the spread, involves child (Princess, Page) discipline (Disks, Pentacles).

Thoth Tarot Princess of Disks (Page of Pentacles) http://livingwithcards.com
Thoth Tarot Princess of Disks (Page of Pentacles)

Arguments/ cruel words between relatives have ensued because each party believes she is an authority on the matter (9 of Swords in Position 1 with MARS in Gemini; Knight of Swords in Position 2). Knights (the equivalent of Kings in Rider-Waite decks) have a “divine right” to rule. The Knight of Swords/ King of Swords mindset applies to both parties, leaving the other feeling disregarded, accused, exploited and/or intimidated. In conjunction with 9 of Swords, the caustic, sarcastic comments hurt. So we have an argument over child discipline (Princess of Disks/ Page of Pentacles) with each party wounding and being wounded/ emotionally hurt by the other’s sharp words (9 of Swords) because each believes she is an authority on the subject (Knight of Swords/ King of Swords).

*********************************************

2 of Wands in Position 3 supplies additional information and/or factors to be considered. Here, 2 of Wands shows dominion. This is the will to dominate. The card suggests that both parties want to impose their will (MARS in Aries) upon the other. Based on the preceding three cards, it appears that differences of opinion will outweigh any sense of balance or centeredness.

Thoth Tarot 2 of Wands http://livingwithcards.com
Thoth Tarot 2 of Wands

Position 4 shows the Answer, Solution or Advice. Here, the 9 of Cups shines a light on the querent’s deep desire for keeping the peace/ harmony. Read in relation to Queen of Wands in Position 5, I sense this could occur at the querent’s expense: the Probable Outcome suggests that at the time of this reading, the more fiery (aggressive) family member will prevail.

Clarification Cards

Five Pointed Star Clarification Cards using Thoth Tarot deck: 9 of Disks (9 of Pentacles) – XII-The Hanged Man – 10 of Cups

Simply interpreted, XII-The Hanged Man suggests a limiting pattern that needs to be broken. A suspension of activity may be in order. Perhaps more solitary time/ time apart from each other (9 of Disks) would ultimately aid the peacemaking process and/or help restore family harmony (10 of Cups). The Hanged Man also indicates that some time will pass before any solution or resolution is reached.

*********************************************

At this time, I have no feedback from the querent, so I don’t know the outcome.

  • Will the parties follow through with a mediator (Lenormand advice)?
  • Will the querent ultimately decide to back down, “sacrificing” her position for harmony’s sake, letting the other, more aggressive family member prevail (Thoth‘s prediction)?
  • Will the energies surrounding the situation change enough to facilitate another outcome?

It would be interesting to find out…

Mary Hawkins

Reading with the Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Part 6

Back in Part 2 of this series, I dismissed the LWB (Little White Book) that accompanies the Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards out of hand, categorizing it as “less than worthless.” I made this value judgment because, other than providing two layouts (with an example reading for only one of them), the LWB gave no clues on how to read the deck. A comment made by a Living With Cards visitor prompted me to take a second look.

If you own this deck, you’ve certainly noticed that the Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards LWB consists of a scrap of paper approximately nine inches wide by 3-1/2 inches high folded into eight panels of information. Because of its tiny size, the information contained within this “book” is beyond brief. Panel 1 is the Introduction. Panels 2 and 3 contain instructions for “The Short Reading” (no reading example is given), while Panels 4-7 address “The Long Reading” (includes a brief reading example using the “fortunes” written on the cards only). The last panel is simply a title page.

The layouts themselves, as described in the LWB, seem to be a blending of traditional cartomancy layouts and Lenormand tableaus. “The Short Reading” employs 17 cards while “The Long Reading” uses 51 cards.

Being a proponent of “less is more,” further down in this post I’ll show you a recent spread I cast using the Gypsy Witch Short Reading layout, along with my “tweaks” to the Gypsy Witch instructions, as well as my commentary. But first, take a look at the template itself:

Gypsy Witch Cards: The Short Reading Layout

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Layout for "The Short Reading" http://livingwithcards.com
Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Layout for “The Short Reading”

You can see from the layout graphic, “The Short Reading” basically consists of a Lenormand Square of Nine (in blue) surrounded by eight additional cards (in red).

Gypsy Witch Cards: Short Reading Instructions:

Note: The instructions outlined in the LWB for both “The Short Reading” and “The Long Reading” include a preliminary card draw to ascertain whether the Querent (person asking the question) will get his or her wish. For the purposes of the following reading example, I chose to ignore that instruction… If you choose, however, to perform the preliminary card draw, be sure to reshuffle the cards before continuing.

Once the cards are shuffled (or reshuffled, if you are using the preliminary draw), the Gypsy Witch Short Reading instructions next say to place either the Lady or the Gentleman as Card 1 within the Square of Nine, place the remaining eight cards around Card 1, then go on to place an additional eight cards around the Square of Nine. The instructions do not specifically state the order in which to place the cards and the layout graphics above and below reflect my own choice of card placement. Additionally, for the purposes of the following reading example, I also chose to let the deck pick the first card, come what may…

And on that note, let’s proceed with the reading example…

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards “The Short Reading” Example: “What Is Going on with This Lady?”

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Short Reading Example: "What Is Going On with this Lady?" http://livingwithcards.com
Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards “The Short Reading” Example: “What Is Going On with this Lady?”

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards

The cards within the Square of Nine will describe what is going on with this Lady, i.e., the internal process. The cards outside the Square of Nine will show the outside influences that have contributed to the Lady’s current situation.

The Square of Nine: Internal Process – The Situation in Which the Lady Now Finds Herself

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Short Reading Square of Nine http://livingwithcards.com
Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards “The Short Reading” Square of Nine
Row 1: 18 Lady + 24 Hand in Hand + 31 The Roads

This Lady is facing a decision (Roads) regarding a significant relationship (Hand in Hand).

Row 2: 34 The Star + 15 The Letter + 52 The Shepherd

She is seeking guidance (Star) and support (Shepherd) via the written word (Letter). Perhaps she is reading through posts on an internet support group or forum, attempting to see if anyone is experiencing a similar situation. She may be posting some details concerning her situation onto an internet forum or social media account, perhaps hoping to receive feedback, support or guidance from people who may care about her. Alternately, she may be consulting her own Inner Guidance — or astrology chart — and writing down the insights she is receiving. She could be texting loved ones who support her, asking for advice or guidance. The playing card inserts on the cards in Row 2 show that her ability to “think intelligently” about the situation is blocked (Spade + Diamond + Spade).

Row 3: 4 The Key + 28 The Anchor + 32 The Mountains

Whatever is going on in the Lady’s life has knocked her off-center (Anchor + Mountains). She needs to re-establish a sense of security (Key + Anchor) and a sense of inner guidance (Star + Key), but this will not happen immediately (Mountains).

The decision(s) (Roads) she needs to make about the significant relationship (Hand in Hand) will take some time (Anchor, Mountains), and not without a fair amount of soul-searching (Star) and support (Shepherd).

Cards Outside the Square of Nine: External Circumstances that are Affecting or Influencing the Lady’s Situation

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards "The Short Reading" Outside Square http://livingwithcards.com
Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards “The Short Reading” Outside Square

The cards outside the Square of Nine show the external circumstances that have contributed to, or have caused, the Lady’s current situation.

I am not particularly surprised to see that  it is a man (Gentleman)…

At the least, this man is causing a problem in the Lady’s life (Fox + Gentleman) that is disrupting her harmony (Snake + House). At worst, he has deceived her and has possibly cheated on her (Fox + Snake + Gentleman). He has disrupted what she has believed to be a stable relationship (Snake + House with Ring), and this has all happened fairly recently. It is a new development (Children).

Looking deeper, the man in question may be childish or immature (Gentleman + Children) and/or someone who does not take the relationship with the Lady as seriously as she does (Gentleman + Clover). While it is possible this man was recently offered a new job that will require him moving far away (Clover + Ring + Ship + Fox), it is equally possible that the man is leaving the Lady for another woman (Ring + Ship with Snake). If so, it is possible that either this other woman (Snake) has children and/or that his relationship with her is a brand new development (Children).

Summary

The Lady has come to a crossroads/ decision point (Roads) regarding a significant relationship (Hand in Hand).

A separation/ removal (Spades) is impacting her ability to think intelligently (Diamonds) about her options, and is setting her into a tailspin of depressed and negative thoughts (Spades). She is reaching out for guidance and support, most likely via online communications, texting, etc. (Star + Letter + Shepherd). Some sense of inner security must be regained (Star + Key + Anchor) before any decisions (Roads) can be made. There is no solution at the moment (Mountains as Pivot Card in the Square of Nine).

The cards that are placed outside the Square of Nine suggest that an actual or suspected breach of trust (Fox + Snake + House) by a significant other (Gentleman) is the cause of the problems (Fox). The significant other may be immature (Children) or the type that “lives for today” (Clover). He may be leaving the Lady for a new job elsewhere (Clover + Ring + Ship + Fox). It is equally possible he is leaving her for another woman (Snake) whom he met very recently and/or who may have children (Children).

The Lady needs to step away and sort things out (Roads) before she can move on with her life. Her trust has been breached (Fox, Snake, Anchor) and she is going to need a fair amount of time (Mountains as Pivot Card) and support from people who love her (Star + Shepherd) before she will be in a position to make healthy decisions.

Conclusions

The quality of information I ascertained from the Gypsy Witch Short Reading layout has convinced me that this particular card spread certainly has merit, and I would use it again.

If you own the Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards deck, I would encourage you to give “The Short Reading” layout a try. You could also use this layout with any Lenormand deck. I think you will be pleased with the results.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Tarot Card Spread Reveals How to Get Your Wish

In my family, regardless of age, the “Birthday Boy” (or Girl) always makes a wish before blowing out the candles. The kids believe their wishes will come true. The adults, not so much.

The simple explanation for why this is so is that making wishes (and expecting them to come true) is a form of “make-believe,” a.k.a. magickal thinking. Children (usually) believe in magick. Grown-ups (usually) do not. (I’ll admit there were years when I only pretended to make a wish so as not to spoil the festive mood…)

The Wish Card: 9 of Cups

Alchemical Tarot Revisited by Robert M. Place 9 of Cups - The Wish Card http://livingwithcards.comAlchemical Tarot Renewed by Robert M. Place 9 of Cups - The Wish Card

The Alchemical Tarot: Renewed Fourth Edition

Although I’m not sure what prompted the thought, earlier this week my mind drifted to a recent family birthday party where the “Birthday Boy,” excited and smiling, squeezed his eyes shut and made what looked to be a very important wish. It was clear from the expression on his face that he expected his wish to come true. The memory made me smile.

It then occurred to me that the Tarot could explain how the whole “wish-getting” thing works, which made me smile even more. All I had to do was ask!

I decided to use The Alchemical Tarot Renewed tarot deck by Robert M. Place. After a thorough shuffle while concentrating on my question, I pulled seven cards and placed them according to the layout shown below:

Q: How Can I Get My Wish (What is the Formula)?

Alchemical Tarot 7 card Wish Spread: 9 of Cups - Page of Wands - Queen of Cups - 3 of Pentacles - XII-The Hanged Man - 2 of Pentacles - 2 of Cups http://livingwithcards.comAlchemical Tarot 7 card Wish Spread: 9 of Cups - Page of Wands - Queen of Cups - 3 of Pentacles - XII-The Hanged Man - 2 of Pentacles - 2 of Cups

The Alchemical Tarot: Renewed Fourth Edition

Position 1 – The Subject or Focus: 9 of Cups

9 of Cups tarot card from The Alchemical Tarot Renewed http://livingwithcards.comTarot Wish Spread Position 1: 9 of Cups - The Wish Card

To my amazement, the first card drawn was the Wish Card itself — 9 of Cups. It seemed to be a clear confirmation that the Tarot was in tune with my question.

Positions 2, 3, 4 – The Answer: Page of Wands, Queen of Cups, 3 of Pentacles

Tarot Wish Spread Positions 2, 3, 4: Page of Wands - Queen of Cups - 3 of Pentacles http://livingwithcards.comTarot Wish Spread Positions 2, 3, 4: Page of Wands - Queen of Cups - 3 of Pentacles

Thoughts (Page of Wands) immersed in feelings/ emotions (Queen of Cups) manifest into things (3 of Pentacles). Notice that a Page is a “beginner” — lower in order than a Queen. Thoughts (Pages) come first. Page of Wands shows the inspirations, hunches and messages that develop into “wishes.” Queens denote a deeper, more mature energy. The Queen of Cups symbolizes developed feelings and emotions. Together, the cards suggest that a considerable amount of feeling/ emotion (Queen of Cups as a more developed energy) has to be infused into the thoughts (Page) to make the spark catch fire (Wands). The result would be a physical manifestation (Pentacles).

Position 5 – Caution, Challenge, Obstacle: XII-The Hanged Man

XII-The Hanged Man tarot card from Alchemical Tarot Renewed http://livingwithcards.comTarot Wish Spread Position 5: XII-The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man suggests the need to look at things from a different perspective and illuminates the need to change one’s perception. The card reminds us that it all starts on the inside. Inner reality creates outer reality, not the other way around. I find it interesting that the only Major Arcana card in the spread happens to be the Challenge Card: its message cannot be ignored or worked around.

Positions 6, 7 – Considerations, Additional Information, Advice: 2 of Pentacles, 2 of Cups

Tarot Wish Spread Positions 5, 6: 2 of Pentacles - 2 of Cups http://livingwithcards.comTarot Wish Spread Positions 6, 7: 2 of Pentacles - 2 of Cups

When it comes to manifestation, 2 of Pentacles suggests if one is “juggling and struggling,” flip-flopping back and forth between wanting something and then doubting they can get it, eventually they’ll wind up “dropping the ball.” Full alignment, harmonization and connection with the desire is essential (2 of Cups).

To summarize:

The Tarot reveals that the “Formula” for getting your wish is to recognize that thoughts start the process and deeply-felt emotion grows it.  This may require a change in your perception: the realization that “inner reality creates outer reality,” and not the other way around. Inconsistent thinking/ actions tends to cancel each other out — you can’t be wishing for (or working towards) what you want one minute then doubting your ability to get what you want the next and still expect success. Full vibrational alignment with your desire is essential.

******************************************

If the Formula seems simple, that’s because it is. Simple, however, doesn’t necessarily mean easy, as any Student of the Law of Attraction can attest. 🙂

******************************************

My suggestion is to try this spread with a particular “Wish” in mind. For Position 1, you can pre-select the Wish Card (9 of Cups) or use another card that symbolizes your desire, whichever you prefer. Or, you can simply let the deck pick the card for you… If you pre-select a card, remove the card of your choice from the deck before thoroughly shuffling the remaining cards while asking the Tarot “How Can I Get My Wish?” (or some variation of that question).

Position #1 – Focus card (describes or represents what you are wishing for)
Positions #2, 3, 4 – The Answer (how-to instructions, what you need to do or not do to get what you are wishing for)
Position #5 – The Caution, Challenge or Obstacle
Position #6, 7 – Additional Information, Considerations, Advice

You can lay out the spread like I did in the diagram above or in any way that makes sense to you. Give it a try and see what you come up with. You might be amazed at how accurately the Tarot provides the answers you seek.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Meanings and Combinations: 44 Broken Glass

The image depicted on Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 44 The Broken Glass immediately elicits an “Oh, no!” reaction. The first thought that may pop into your mind is the seven years’ bad luck associated with the old superstition about breaking a mirror. This interpretation is certainly supported by the “fortune” that’s written on the card: “The broken glass foretells ill luck for long years if near; but if distant, death of a friend.”

Bummer…

But is Gypsy Witch 44 The Broken Glass really all that bad? And is it all that bad all of the time?

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 44 The Broken Glass (8 of Diamonds) http://livingwithcards.comGypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 44 The Broken Glass (8 of Diamonds)

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards

The first clue Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 44 The Broken Glass isn’t always negative comes from its playing card inset, 8 of Diamonds, which speaks of balance. It is only when things get out of balance that one’s world-view becomes distorted, as the following illustration will show.

The second clue comes from the examination of the numerological vibration associated with this card, the 44/8 vibration, which is an exceptionally powerful one. 44 is a Master Number and the number 8 is associated with power, as well as balance.

The 44/8 vibration suggests (among other things):

(+) Perseverance through discipline… conforming to and making the best of the situation… resourcefulness… planning in advance… ability to employ common sense and logical thinking… overcoming obstacles through sustained effort

(-) Overly materialistic mindset… chasing fame and fortune to the detriment of one’s health, resulting in discontent and frustration

**********************************************

With the above two clues in mind, let’s take a closer look at how Gypsy Witch 44 The Broken Glass might play out in a simple two-card spread:

Female X, a small business owner, has taken some steps to increase sales. She has generated some customer interest but so far it hasn’t translated into actual sales. She’s feeling a bit apprehensive and wants to know what she should focus on or consider.

I drew two Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards to illuminate her situation:

Q: What Should Female X Focus On (need to know)?

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 5 Tree (3 of Clubs) and 44 The Broken Glass (8 of Diamonds) http://livingwithcards.comGypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 5 Tree (3 of Clubs) and 44 The Broken Glass (8 of Diamonds)

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards

According to the “fortunes” written on the cards, Gypsy Witch 5 TREE symbolizes “good health” and “fulfillment of highest hopes” while 44 BROKEN GLASS “foretells ill luck for long years.”

So which is it? A thriving business (TREE) or “might as well close up shop today because it’s all going to hell in a hand-basket” (BROKEN GLASS) and there’s nothing she can do about it?

I decided to dig deeper, considering some of the standard meanings for the playing cards depicted on these cards:

3 of Clubs

Playing card 3 of Clubs http://livingwithcards.com3 of Clubs
  1. Good luck
  2. Fortunate circumstances
  3. Opportunities for growth
  4. Investing in the future
  5. Situations that start small but have the capacity to grow and expand
  6. Expanding one’s knowledge base by learning new things
  7. Investing (in general)
  8. A practical development

8 of Diamonds

Playing cards 8 of Diamonds http://livingwithcards.com8 of Diamonds

8 of Diamonds is a card of balance, or a struggle to find balance, in financial matters. The card can also show where additional money can be earned. Other interpretations include:

  1. Being insightful
  2. Looking into the future
  3. Eyes, eyesight, wearing glasses
  4. A person who is related to you
  5. Keeping to a budget
  6. Planning for the future

In the context of Female X’s question, if TREE equals “good luck” and BROKEN GLASS equals “bad luck” while 3 of Clubs equals “opportunities for growth, investing in the future, growing one’s business,” and 8 of Diamonds equals “being insightful, looking into and planning for the future,” what might we surmise?

You can’t see your reflection in a broken glass
Distortion of what-is
(A need to) Fix or replace the (broken) mirror

**************************************************

The Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards seem to be advising Female X to take a closer look at what the circumstances (disappointing sales figures) are reflecting  (BROKEN GLASS) back at her. She needs to re-examine her thoughts (Diamonds) about her goals and expectations (and deliberately choose to focus on the positive aspects of what she wishes to achieve) in order to thrive (TREE), attract good luck (3 of Clubs), and actually grow (TREE) her business.

************************************

Note: Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Card 5 Tree is the only Gypsy Witch card that shares the same card number as a standard Lenormand card, although the playing card insets are different.

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Card 5 Tree (3 of Clubs) compared to Lenormand 5 Tree (7 of Hearts) http://livingwithcards.comGypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Card 5 Tree (3 of Clubs) compared to Lenormand 5 Tree (7 of Hearts)

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards
Mlle Lenormand Jeu du destin Cartomancy Deck of 36 Cards

*************************************

In essence, the Gypsy Witch cards seem to be pointing out that “good luck” (TREE) vs “bad luck” (BROKEN GLASS) is all in how one sees or perceives it. In other words, no matter what “reality” is showing you, it’s really “all in your head.” Your perception (8 of Diamonds) is your reality.

According to the Law of Attraction, the Universe simply delivers the physical counterparts of what we are thinking and feeling. (Thoughts are things.) In this light, the Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards seem to be advising Female X that what is currently needed is not another promotional campaign. It’s not even necessarily a new idea. Female X first needs to re-examine the lens through which she is viewing her reality (BROKEN GLASS) so she can see clearly.

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 44 The Broken Glass (8 of Diamonds) http://livingwithcards.comGypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards 44 The Broken Glass (8 of Diamonds)

What is Female X really expecting to happen as far as her business is concerned? Does she “see” new customers pouring in the door or is she focusing on her wares gathering dust as they languish on the shelves? Awareness of what she is envisioning is critical because that’s what she will likely get. If her “vision” (8 of Diamonds) is out-of-skew/ distorted (BROKEN GLASS), she will need to adjust or balance (8 of Diamonds) her mindset/ expectations in a positive direction. Business growth (TREE, 3 of Clubs) will then follow, regardless of what particular promotion or idea she decides to implement.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Notes:

  1. Like many cartomancers, the meanings I’ve derived from the various playing cards come from a blending of various sources and my own intuitions and experience. I particularly recommend The Art of Cartomancy (Kapherus), Ask My Cards (Madame Seaqueen), Hedgewytchery (Dawn Jackson) and Regina Russell’s Card Reader’s Handbook. You’ll find links to these sites in my Blog Roll.
  2. I’ve started posting brief card draws (1 to 3 cards) on Instagram, along with a thought or two on how I would interpret them. I’m using various decks — Lenormand, Tarot, Gypsy Witch, Oracle Cards — whatever strikes my fancy any particular morning. 🙂 Sometimes I throw in something astrological. A psychiatrist who conducted an assessment of Fogle prior to his plea agreement determined that Fogle suffers from “hypersexuality, mild pedophilia and alcohol abuse and dependency.” Fogle had “a fairly extensive history” of visiting prostitutes and had admitted to spending approximately $12,000/year for sex. He admitted to engaging in sex with minors and having a sexual interest in teenagers. He had an extensive pornography collection, an interest which started in college.

Fogle, age 38, apparently had a compulsive eating disorder before he lost the weight that resulted in his becoming the Subway spokesperson. Fogle blamed his hypersexuality on losing weight, because (according to the psychiatrist’s testimony) it “seemed to develop shortly after he shed the extra pounds.”

After reading a couple online news stories, my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to cast Fogle’s natal astrology chart. I’ve included it here in case you’d like to take a look.

Jared Fogle Natal Astrology Chart (SUN on ASCENDANT)

Note: This is not the true birth chart of Jared Fogle, as I do not have his time of birth. I have cast the chart with SUN on the ASCENDANT, which I have repeatedly found to reveal pertinent information for the purposes of forensic astrology, even though the ASCENDANT, MOON and Arabic Parts positions cannot be considered “accurate.”

*********************************************

I will just make a few observations, since this is, for the most part, a cartomancy blog, not an astrology blog.

  1. Fogle’s SUN/MOON midpoint (the essence of who he is) is conjunct CERES (food/ appetite) and the Arabic Part of Children. This entire configuration is squared (challenging aspect) by VENUS (what we attract/ what we are attracted to). Ergo, Mr. Fogle’s chart clearly shows he is attracted to both food and children and he doesn’t quite know how to manage either (square).
  2. The VENUS/URANUS midpoint (“strange” attraction, one of the main signatures of a pedophile) at 16 Virgo is near his MERCURY (thinking, thinking process, mindset) and trine (easy aspect) the Arabic Part of Perversion 16 Taurus. It is easy (trine) for him to entertain strange, perverted thoughts (VENUS/URANUS conjunct MERCURY trine Part of Perversion).
  3. Notice EROS, the Asteroid of sex, close to the MOON** at 19 Sagittarius. EROS is sexualizing the MOON which itself is near NEPTUNE, planet of illusions, delusions and fantasies. Moreover, NEPTUNE-MOON-EROS are opposed MARS (sex, sex drive) and JUPITER (expansion, excess), and both ends of the opposition are square MERCURY (thinking). So we’ve got someone who fantasizes (NEPTUNE), and thinks about (MERCURY), and gets emotionally worked up over (MOON) sex (EROS, MARS) and that’s almost all he can think about (because JUPITER is making it all larger than life) and it’s a huge problem, something he has a hard time controlling (square, opposition).
  4. We have JUPITER (excess) parallel and conjunct MARS (sex, sex drive) in a difficult aspect to URANUS (aberrations, abnormalities). This shows it’s very hard (and perhaps improbable) for Fogle to control his unusual (URANUS) appetites/ sex drive  (especially when you factor in the opposition of MARS + JUPITER to MOON-NEPTUNE-EROS discussed in Point 3 above).
  5. Fogle’s ability to discipline himself is shown by SATURN, 21:41 Leo in the 12th House of Self-Undoing. SATURN is in a critical degree (21 Fixed) — a crisis waiting to happen– and in detriment (in the house opposite the house it rules) in Leo, the sign on the 5th House of Children in the natural wheel. SATURN is quindecile (an obsession, compulsion aspect) the URANUS/CHIRON midpoint (aberrations, abnormalities [that cause] wounding). He is constantly fighting the “urges” [to act in aberrant ways against children] but it’s a losing battle because his discipline (SATURN) is so weak it might as well be nonexistent. (Case in point: Fogle blames his hypersexuality on his weight loss. Really?!)

**********************************

There is a saying: Once a pedophile, always a pedophile.

I agree.

After even just this brief examination of Mr. Fogle’s natal astrology chart, you could not convince me in a million years that he will ever be free of his compulsions, whether for food or for children.

No matter how many years he spends in jail, no matter how many counseling sessions he attends, he will not be “cured” or “reformed” or be able to “self-manage.” His natal astrology chart all but guarantees that.

Which leads me to the unpleasant conclusion that even if Mr. Fogle serves his full 15 year 8 month sentence (doubtful), once free, his old demons will once again arise. And, even more unpleasantly, he will still be young enough to engage in the activities that sent him to prison in the first place.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Notes:

  1. **The MOON’s exact position depends on the actual time of birth, so 19 Sagittarius is not necessary accurate. Despite this, the MOON would be in Sagittarius (15 – 29 degrees) and thus oppose MARS-JUPITER and square MERCURY by sign if not degree, no matter what time Fogle was born on that particular date and location.
  2. Not indicated on the chart, Fogle’s natal SUN at 00:12 Virgo is conjunct the Fixed Star Regulus. Very often people with this configuration will rise to power / come before the public eye/ make good in the world and then fall from grace. That certainly happened in this case. Also ALGOL, a particularly malefic (evil) Fixed Star that is associated with “losing one’s head, either literally or figuratively,” is placed on the sunrise chart’s MIDHEAVEN (what comes before the public eye). Possibly due to his weak, ineffective SATURN (discipline), Fogle couldn’t get a handle on controlling his sexual desires (in a sense, “losing his head” over them) and this all came to the public’s attention in a most humiliating way.
