Forensic Cartomancy: Lenormand Cards Discuss Missing Child Diana Alvarez

Here’s a question for you. If you pulled some Lenormand cards to find out whether a missing child was dead or alive and got DOG + BOOK + SCYTHE + CHILD + GARDEN + BIRDS, would you say that child was dead or alive?

I say ‘dead’ and will explain why and how I came to that conclusion further down in this post. But first, I’d like to discuss factors leading up to that particularly grim determination.

Background

According to news and media reports, Diana Alvarez, a nine year old Fort Myers, Florida child, was discovered missing from her home around 7:00 am on Sunday, May 29, 2016. Over the next several days it became sickeningly clear that a 28 year old male with the initials JG* likely was responsible for the child’s disappearance.

*********************************

*JG had been a tenant at the family’s home, living there and paying rent. When family members noticed that JG appeared to be inappropriately interested in Diana and Diana appeared to be smitten by his attention, they insisted JG move out. This occurred in early May, shortly before the little girl disappeared.

As I write this post, the suspect JG is in custody, charged with possession of child pornography. He has not claimed responsibility for the disappearance of Diana Alvarez and has since “lawyered up.” The child is still missing.

The Astrology

I have mentioned before, in this post and this one, that I primarily use forensic horary astrology techniques to discover what has happened in missing persons cases.

Because this is a cartomancy blog and not an astrology blog, I will not go into the blow-by-blow details that I was able to pull from careful analysis of the pertinent charts, other than to say there were numerous indications of kidnap, rape and murder, along with disturbing indications of extreme violence. If you are astrologically oriented, you can get the general idea from my scribbled notes on the “Discovered Missing” chart below.

Sickening, at best.

Based on past experience, it occurred to me that perhaps the Lenormand cards could shed more light on the matter. While the astrology was certainly clear enough, I’ve found the cards can often add another layer that is helpful to understanding the dynamics surrounding these tragic cases.

First I pulled a Lenormand Square of 9 to get the general “lay of the land,” so to speak.

Lenormand Square of 9: Circumstances Surrounding Diana Alvarez Disappearance

Lenormand Square of 9: 3 Ship - 26 Book - 9 Bouquet - 18 Dog - 22 Crossroads - 7 Snake - 13 Child - 24 Heart - 15 Bear http://livingwithcards.com

Mlle Lenormand Cartomancy Deck of 36 Cards

Note: None of these cards were preselected.

Diana is 13 Child, JG is 18 Dog. We can easily see they went on a road trip (SHIP + ROADS) that ended badly (SHIP + ROADS + SNAKE). Diana has a crush on JG (DOG + HEART), but JG has told her they have to keep it a secret (BOOK + HEART) from Mama and/or Papa (BEAR). JG gives Diana gifts (BOUQUET) or perhaps promises (HEART) to give them. Diana trusts JG (DOG).

22 Crossroads with 3 Ship + 26 Book suggests a “secret journey.” She should expect something wonderful and pleasant (BOUQUET). Perhaps the roads they traveled were wind-y,  or full of curves, or a round-about route (ROADS + SNAKE). Perhaps a bear or two (BEAR) had been spotted there. Maybe he told her they were going to stop to see the bears (BEAR) on their way to the “big surprise” (BOUQUET) he had for her.

She was so incredibly trusting (CHILD + HEART). Most nine year olds are.

****************************************

While the Lenormand Square of 9 was descriptive enough, it did not seem to address the critical question. So, taking a breath, I thoroughly re-mixed the cards and asked:

Q: Diana Alvarez Dead or Alive?

Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 18 Dog - 26 Book - 10 Scythe - 13 Child - 20 Garden - 12 Birds http://livingwithcards.com
Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 18 Dog – 26 Book – 10 Scythe – 13 Child – 20 Garden – 12 Birds

Mlle Lenormand Cartomancy Deck of 36 Cards

Following my normal procedure, I selected the base card (bottom card of the shuffled deck), placing it directly below the central (hinge) card of the Lenormand Line of 5. I have repeatedly found this extra card adds value to the reading, either by modifying one or more of the three cards above it, supplying additional information or clarification, and/or by pointing out a factor that should be considered.

DOG, BOOK and CHILD once again appeared in this second card draw. The repetition of cards in spite of vigorous shuffling and re-mixing in between draws did not go unnoticed. JG is the DOG (trusted friend, loved one, typically male); Diana is the CHILD and the BOOK is the secret between them.

The Line of 5 is quite straightforward. It suggests that the secret friend (DOG + BOOK) “cut” her down/ committed a violent act against her (SCYTHE + CHILD), then buried or placed her in a lushly vegetated area such as a park or nature preserve (GARDEN).

As a modifier to SCYTHE, BIRDS (associated with the throat and/or vocal chords) suggests “air.” Combining the base card with the hinge cardSCYTHE can be a “cut” or an “interruption” and BIRDS breathing and/or the breathing process (air). Did JG “cut” (SCYTHE) her throat (BIRDS)? Did he “interrupt” or “cut off” (SCYTHE) her airways (BIRDS)?  …. In other words, did he strangle or suffocate her so she wouldn’t (couldn’t) “talk” (SCYTHE + BIRDS)?

Conclusions

The forensic horary astrology charts suggest that Diana Alvarez is no longer with us. The Lenormand cards appear to agree. Both approaches suggest strangulation/ asphyxiation (with possible testimonies for slashing of the throat) as cause of death.

The Lenormand cards suggest Diana may be found in a garden, park, nature preserve or other area where there is lush vegetation (GARDEN). With BIRDS as the base card in the Line of 5, perhaps the authorities will have some success getting the perp to “talk.”

We can only hope…

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Note regarding my process: I will only examine a Missing Persons case when I have a reasonable understanding of the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, a reliable timeline including the date, time and place the person was either discovered missing and/or reported missing to police, and the victim’s birth data. The birth data of the perpetrator/ prime suspect is helpful as well. I prefer to work with current cases.

Unlike psychics (no disrespect intended), I do not base my findings on dreams or visions, nor do I pull information out of the ethers (or my butt, depending on your level of skepticism). Rather, I read the ‘star language‘ contained in the forensic astrology charts that I examine and interpret it to the best of my ability.

The first step (after familiarizing myself with a case) is always the casting and examination of the relevant astrology chart(s), which are carefully compared to the victim’s natal chart before drawing any conclusions. Once that’s done, I may or may not throw a card spread or two to gain additional information, as I did here. Yes, intuition is involved. So is common sense. Everybody has both of these faculties to some degree or another.

Reversed Lenormand Cards: What Do They Mean? 31 Sun, 10 Scythe, 33 Key, 26 Book, 11 Whip, 17 Storks

Unlike Tarot cards, Lenormand cards are not meant to be read in the reversed position. You are supposed to make sure all the cards in your deck face one way before you shuffle and draw. If despite this, one or more cards show up in the reversed position, you are supposed to disregard this and read the card(s) in the upright position.

At the risk of horrifying the Lenormand experts, I have actually found the information gained from analyzing reversed Lenormand cards to be amazingly useful. I’ll show you why in a minute…

As I’ve probably mentioned before, I like to use the Lenormand cards when I need or want a “second opinion.” Unlike a friend, family member or co-worker, the Lenormand cards have no hidden agenda or bias concerning their answer. They won’t try to spare your feelings. If they “tell” you your idea/ decision/ direction/ plan is unrealistic or ill-advised, they’ll almost always tell you why. And in my experience, they will almost always be spot on.

A couple days ago, I asked the Lenormand cards for insight on how to get started with some ideas I had. I wanted to know specifically how I could put my ideas into action. I drew the following cards:

Q: How Can I Get Started?

Piatnik Lenormand 31 Sun - 10 Scythe Rx - 33 Key - 26 Book Rx - 11 Whip - 17 Storks Rx
31 Sun – 10 Scythe Rx – 33 Key – 26 Book Rx – 11 Whip – 17 Storks Rx

Piatnik Jeu du destin Mlle Lenormand Cartomancy Deck of 36 Cards

I was surprised to see the reversed cards. I always mix my cards a certain way and they rarely change direction. My first impulse was to read the reversals but knowing “the rule,” I decided to begin by reading the cards straight as if they were all upright.

Sun + Scythe suggested positive decisions leading to success (Key) and improved circumstances (Stork). Book + Whip suggested repetitive projects, or “whipping out projects,” one after the other. So the cards (read as if they were all upright) seemed to be saying that I should begin by making positive decisions and whipping out my projects one after the other to achieve success and a positive change in circumstances.

But that interpretation left me a little flat.

I kept staring at those three reversed cards and suddenly it hit me. The reversed cards were highlighting the facts that I was not making decisions, let along good ones (reversed ScytheSun), and that I was not cranking out projects one after the other (reversed BookWhip). And as long as I was not making positive decisions nor cranking out projects, I would not achieve a successful change of circumstances (Key + reversed Storks).

The reversed Lenormand cards clearly revealed what I needed to do in a way I might have missed had all the cards been in their upright positions.

Once again, I couldn’t help but shake my head in amazement at how helpful (not to mention literal) Lenormand cards can be.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Lenormand Card Meanings & Combinations: 7 Snake

As you work with Lenormand cards in your daily draws, you begin to experience patterns in which the cards personally speak to you. This happens with Tarot cards as well, or any other cartomancy system with which you work regularly.

It’s always a good idea to make notations in a personal journal as to what the card combinations mean to you. This helps you build your own cartomancy vocabulary and assists you in becoming a more accomplished card reader.

The Lenormand card, 7 Snake, is an interesting card that has a generally negative meaning.

Lenormand 7 Snake meanings and combinations http://livingwithcards.com
Lenormand 7 Snake

By itself, it warns you “something is up,” likely in an unpleasant sort of way. With 3 Ship, 1 Rider or 22 Paths7 Snake can symbolize something as mundane as roadblocks or traffic snarls, particularly in a daily draw where the card meanings are of a “lighter” variety. In a health question, 15 Bear + 7 Snake could represent a digestive issue. If 21 Mountain is close by, it could be constipation.

In general, however, 7 Snake symbolizes deceit, betrayal, and complications, particularly in a relationship reading. With Queen of Clubs as the playing card inset, it also is one of the person cards, symbolizing a woman who may or may not be older than the querent and who may be devious or mysterious in some manner. As a woman, 7 Snake often wears glasses or contact lenses. 7 Snake can represent a woman with psychic abilities. It may also represent the partner in a lesbian relationship, or the “Other Woman” in a love triangle.

The following example shows how 7 Snake may play out in a reading:

A female querent wanted some insight on a male co-worker who’d recently joined the company where she worked. She found the man attractive and wondered if a possible romantic relationship could develop between them. He appeared to be “footloose and fancy free,” didn’t wear a wedding band, and she hadn’t heard any gossip that he was already involved in another relationship. They worked together in the same department and as far as she could tell, had plenty in common. She could already imagine herself in bed with him, but before she went any further, she wanted some reassurance he was as “available” as he appeared to be.

Is Male X romantically available?

7 Snake – 26 Book – 29 Woman

Mlle. Lenormand Jeu de destin No. 194115 (c) 1986 Piatnik

The Lenormand cards selected at random for this reading were quite literal: “No, he is not available!”

7 Snake shows deception or complications and 26 Book shows secrets or hidden information. The cards clearly indicate that this man is deceiving (Snake) our querent by hiding (Book) his relationship with another woman (Woman).

She’d do best to steer clear of him…

Lenormand Daily Draw: Mountain, Clouds, Paths, Tree, Child, Book, Coffin

When using Lenormand cards for my daily draw, I often throw a Line of 5, then select the base card (bottom card of the shuffled deck) for clarification or additional information.

This morning, after shuffling while asking the Lenormand cards to show me something that would happen today or something I needed to know, I inadvertently selected six cards for my Line of 5:

21 Mountain - 6 Clouds 22 Paths - 5 Tree - 13 Child - 26 Book - 8 Coffin
21 Mountain – 6 Clouds 22 Paths – 5 Tree – 13 Child – 26 Book – 8 Coffin

Blaue Eule (Blue Owl) Lenormand (c) 2008 Konigsfurt-Urania

At first, I was unsure of how I wanted to deal with this unexpected situation. Should I disregard the mistakenly drawn 6th card? Use it as the base card showing clarification or additional information (even though I’d already peeked at the bottom card)?

I left it in the line up for several minutes as I contemplated what the cards might be telling me, keeping in mind the base card I had peeked at, 8 Coffin

Basically, I got the sense today would be a day of procrastination (Mountain + Clouds) with no clear focus (Clouds + Paths) and passing weather conditions (Clouds) — it was cloudy and rainy when I pulled my cards — and that maybe I’d go back to bed for a couple hours (8 Coffin as clarification or additional information), bored outta my mind (Tree).

I would probably lay low (Coffin), not much would get done (Mountain + Clouds + Paths), and I’d experience a slow, boring (Tree) day, at least until later in the afternoon when I would leave the house to pick up Grandson #1 (Child) from school (Book).

***************************************

Note: After realizing the first three cards (Mountain + Clouds + Paths) went together, making the 4th card 5 Tree (slow, boring day) the central card of the spread, the reading quickly clarified and I had to “tip my hat” to my subconscious, which surely had orchestrated the selection of six, rather than five, cards.

What Actually Happened:

As the cards had suggested, the day started out slow and boring (Tree) and I didn’t accomplish much of anything (Mountain + Clouds + Paths). Somehow, however, I managed to stay out of bed (Coffin)!

Around lunchtime, the boredom (Tree) ended (Coffin) when I happened to notice a new book I’d purchased but hadn’t gotten around to reading laying on the kitchen table under a pile of paperwork. As I picked it up, I instantly realized Child + Book in the morning draw was completely literal: new (Child) book (Book). Also, as planned, I picked up my grandson (Child) from school (Book) later in the day, so the last two cards of what was supposed to be a five card draw wound up pulling double duty.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Lenormand Cards Comment on the New Babies: Birds, Paths, Tree, Book, Key, Anchor

This morning I was wondering how the newly born little twin girls were doing and pulled the following cards:

12 Birds - 22 Paths - 5 Tree - 26 Book - 33 Key - 35 Anchor
12 Birds – 22 Paths – 5 Tree – 26 Book – 33 Key – 35 Anchor

Blaue Eule (Blue Owl) Lenormand (c) 2008 Konigsfurt-Urania

12 Birds + 22 Crossroads, both carrying the connotation of “2” refers to the twins. 5 Tree is their health and 5 Tree + 26 Book indicates tests and/or examinations. 33 Key as the final card in the Line of 5 lends a positive, successful vibe, indicating the tests showed all is well with the baby girls.

35 Anchor, as the card providing clarification and/or additional information, along with 5 Tree, further confirms stable health and strong immune systems.

To confirm my interpretation of the Lenormand card message, I texted my older daughter (who had visited the Mom and babies yesterday) and asked about the test results. She replied the tests were good, all was well, and the babies were perfectly healthy.

So nice to get the good news!

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins
