Blind Crone Combination Card Spread Using Playing Cards and Lenormand Cards Combination Reading

If you’re interested in improving your card reading skills exponentially, take the leap and start “reading blind,” first thing every morning. I’ll explain:

Lately I’ve been doing some early morning B.C. (Before Coffee/ Blind Card) “no questions” card draws combining playing cards with Lenormand cards. I just pull the cards, no particular questions asked, with the general intention of getting the day’s energy reading and/or information applicable to me, someone I know, or someone who reads/ follows any of my social media or blogs.

I’ve found these blind draws with cards selected in the grogginess of morning are as accurate as they are fascinating — and quite a rewarding way to go about improving one’s cartomancy skills…

I call my spread the ‘Blind Crone’ Combination Card Spread a.k.a. the B.C.C.C. Spread the initials can also stand for ‘Blind Card’ Combination Card Spread and ‘Before Coffee’ Combination Card Spread There’s something about the foggy-groggy sensations of “early-morning-before-coffee-and-with-glasses-not-yet-on” card draws that seems to operate in magical ways …

**********

First I’ll explain my layout and what the positioning indicates:

Blind Crone Combination Card (B.C.C.C.) Spread:

Card 1 (top card)

Card 1 is a Playing Card placed in The Above Position – what’s on your mind/ general focus of the Reading

Cards 2-7 (middle six cards)

Cards 2-7 are placed in rows of three cards each with Row 1 showing Playing Cards and Row 2 showing Lenormand Cards. These cards can be read horizontally and vertically. The column containing the Above and Below Cards is central to the meaning of the spread.

Card 8 (bottom card)

Card 8 is a Lenormand Card placed in The Below Position – what you don’t want to think about/ aren’t noticing/ may be avoiding.

Notes: I use the Base Cards of each deck for the Above and Below positions. You can do likewise or pull the cards in any order you like, as long as you remain consistent. You can also use Tarot Cards instead of Lenormand Cards if you prefer.

**********

Pictured below is a recent Blind Crone Combination Card draw featuring playing cards and the Blue Bird Lenormand Deck. The Reading appears to be about a Lady (Lady) who’s feeling  a bit off balance (8 of Diamonds), depressed and/or confused (Clouds) because she’s being forced to leave/ sell her home (9 of Spades + Ace of Clubs + Ace of Hearts) and will have to travel a distance to relocate (Ace of Hearts with House and Ship in the spread).

I immediately know who the cards are referring to (a personal female acquaintance) and note that 8 of Diamonds in the Above Position shows what’s most on her mind and Ship in the Below Position shows what she doesn’t want to think about and/or is avoiding. (Remember: the column containing the Above and Below cards is central to the meaning of the spread.)

Blue Bird Lenormand Cards

The result of selling her current residence (Ace of Clubs) and moving  house could  be pleasing (Ace of Hearts + Lady) but right now the perceived pressure to do so is great (9 of Spades + House). There’s a lot of doubt, confusion and maybe even a touch of depression about moving to a new home (House + Clouds + Lady). She’s either not entirely convinced she should proceed or just doesn’t want to think about it right now (Ship in the Below Position).

The 8 of Diamonds in the Above Position suggests her mind is currently focused on caution, careful planning and balance or the lack thereof, as well as financial concerns/ ups & downs.

The cards aren’t telling her what to do, but merely mirroring the current energy patterns surrounding her circumstances. With Ship in the Below Position, she’s being advised that perhaps she should  spend more time exploring what’s really behind those fears, worries and/or reluctance to sell her house and relocate, and address the issues head on.

If this Lady were to come to me later for input or advice about her situation, I’d already have a good heads-up on what’s going on thanks to having been “pre-alerted” by this Reading.

Gypsy Witch Fortune Telling Playing Cards Meanings & Combinations: 40 Wine

The Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Card 40 Wine does not always mean “cheerfulness and gaiety” as described in the “fortune” on the card. For one thing, it’s a person card: the Queen of Clubs. As such it could be referencing an Earth sign person (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) or a person who largely operates in a friendly, helpful manner or one who possesses a practical, results-oriented mindset.

Consider also what happens when someone (Earth sign or not) becomes inebriated. Their thinking process may be interrupted, possibly blocked. They may find it difficult to think logically and/or make well-thought-out decisions. Actions they may take while “under the influence” may not turn out so well, etc.

Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Card 40 Wine – Living with Cards

All card readings are contextual. By that I mean you must take into consideration not only the actual question/ situation/ circumstance being explored, but also the energies surrounding either the Querent (if it’s their question) or the subject/ person  the Querent is seeking to gain information on.

Below I will discuss a reading showcasing Gypsy Witch 40 Wine and show you the card combinations that led me to my conclusions regarding the matter.

The Situation That Prompted the Reading

Two family members (A & B) are somewhat at odds regarding how to address a situation impacting a third family member (C) who is not capable of making their own health decisions. Family Member A’s approach seems “way over the top” to Family Member B, who as the local family member will be the person who ultimately handles the matter. Family Member B wants to get a better understanding of the energy surrounding the situation in light of Family Member C’s real needs at this time.

The Question: What Does B Need to Know about C’s Situation and the Way A is Dealing with It?

Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Cards address a family member’s health situation and another family member’s reaction to it. – Living with Cards © 2019

After a thorough shuffle of the cards, I pulled the nine card spread seen above, laying the cards out starting with the central card (Anchor), Left (Mountain), Above (Scythe), Right (Heart), Below (Key), Top Left Corner (Wine), Top Right Corner (Railroad), Bottom Right Corner (Lightening) and Bottom Left Corner (Lion).

I then flipped over cards in the remaining deck one by one until I uncovered Tree (health) which I selected along with the card before (Lilies) and the card after (Snake).

The Analysis

In order to intelligently explore this question we first need to determine Family Member C’s general state of health, which would be indicated by Gypsy Witch 5 Tree.

Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Cards Lilies + Tree + Snake - Living with Cards
Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Cards Lilies + Tree + Snake – Living with Cards

Here we are seeing health issues (Tree + Snake) that are exacerbated due to aging (Lilies). Quite simply, Family Member C is getting older. Their declining health is to be expected. I saw no red flags that would indicate Family Member C was on death’s doorstep.

With that portion of the analysis clear, we go on to the nine card spread which addresses Family Member A’s reactions to the situation and explores the energy behind how they are dealing with it:

Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Cards family member's health issue - Living with Cards © 2019
Gypsy Witch Fortunetelling Playing Cards family member’s health issue – Living with Cards © 2019

Two cards immediately struck my attention: the central card Anchor and the first card Wine. Equally interesting, both these cards suggested two layers of meanings to me.

Anchor, as the central card told me that Family Member C’s health was stable at the moment. It also suggested that Family Member B, the Querent, was the stabilizing force in the matter.

It was immediately obvious that the first card, Wine, did not symbolize “cheerfulness and gaiety” within the context of this question/ situation. I noted with interest that Family Member A, the person under examination, was both female and an Earth sign, making Wine which features the Queen of Clubs an appropriate significator.

A quick look at the four corners brought more insight: Railroad is a distance card; this could denote actual physical distance as well as emotional and/or psychological distance. Here it appropriately mirrored Family Member A’s physical distance from the situation as they lived out of state. Lightning in the bottom right corner suggested a “disagreeable surprise,” fortified by Lion in the bottom left corner, presaging “a sudden shock from bad news.” Just the four corners alone suggested Family Member A was thrown off their game by this situation concerning C’s health. I wrote in my notes:

Q♣ is catastrophizing from afar.

Wine (Q♣ representing Family Member A) + Scythe (snap decisions) + Railroad (distance).

Where’d I get “catastrophizing”? That came from the “testimonies” of Lion and Lightning which together with Scythe give the sense of jumping to conclusions (out of fear).

The cards went on to describe Family Member A’s fear and trepidation (Lion, Lightning) that C’s heart might stop (Heart, Mountain). Key shows the certainty in their mind that the worst would happen.

In a way, Family Member A’s mind was “bubbling over” (Wine) with every disturbing, unpleasant thought possible concerning C’s situation, which they were sure meant C was not long for this world, a “diagnosis” that is contradicted by Tree and its surrounding cards.

==============================

Please note: I am not making any medical diagnosis here and the altercation between the two family members does not involve a health crisis. Rather, the two family members need to make decisions concerning C’s future health care in general and they have differing views on how to proceed.

==============================

As a result of this reading Family Member B decided to put more effort into alleviating A’s fears by helping them better understand the procedures B was considering putting in place regarding C’s future health issues.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Note: in this reading the Gypsy Witch Wine card did not testify that Family Member A was actually “inebriated” or acting out of any drunken stupor. However, in light of the card combinations, it was pointing out a similar type of reaction one might observe in a person who was “under the influence:” namely, blurred, blocked, fuzzy or delayed thinking (Wine + Mountain), interrupted thought process (Wine + Scythe), agitated, fear-based thinking (Wine + Lion with Lightening in the spread), etc.

Forensic Astrology & Cartomancy: Missing Child Maleah Davis

UPDATE 5/31/2019:    Police have found remains in the search for missing Texas 4-year-old Maleah Davis after the suspect in her disappearance allegedly confessed about where he dumped her body.  … the remains were found in southwest Arkansas, after a “mowing crew found a black garbage bag emitting a foul odor.” The discovery comes after local activist Quanell X said … the suspect and the ex-boyfriend of Davis’ mother, told him he had “dumped [Davis’] body off the road” in Arkansas. According to The Houston ChronicleQuanell X said he passed along the information to police. [The suspect] who was meant to be taking care of the toddler while her mother was out of town, initially claimed that he was ambushed on a highway and Davis was abducted.

=======================================

[Note: this post was published on May 13, 2019] – Maleah Davis is a four year old girl who allegedly was kidnapped during a carjacking  in North Houston, Texas on Friday, May 3, 2019. As I publish this post, we now know the story was a fabrication designed to cover up the murder and disposal of yet another innocent little child.

First, I will lay out the story line as reported by news media, followed by the forensic astrology chart (with commentary) and the card reading I prepared and posted on Instagram last week (Sunday, May 5th) before many of the details were made public.

Maleah Davis, age 4, reported missing from North Houston TX May 4, 2019

What We Know via News Sources

Friday, May 3, 2019: According to the girl’s “stepfather,” he was driving to the airport with Maleah and his own 1+ year old son in tow to pick up his fiance (Maleah’s mother) when he heard a popping noise. He pulled over to the side of the road and while inspecting his tires, a truck approached him. Two Hispanic men got out. One man commented on “how sweet, how nice” little Maleah looked. Next thing he knew, he’d been knocked unconscious, and spent the next 20+ hours in and out of consciousness, along with the the abductors and the two children in their truck until finally, he found himself on the side of another road with his son, but no car and no Maleah. Somehow he managed to get himself to the hospital (how, we’re not sure)… Eventually someone (we don’t know who but not him) called the Houston Police to report Maleah missing. This report to police occurred “just before midnight” on Saturday, May 4, 2019, according to a law enforcement spokesperson.

Sunday, May 5, 2019: Houston Police issued an Amber Alert for Maleah Davis at 8:27 a.m.

Monday, May 6, 2019: 10:30: Texas Equusearch joined the search effort at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday, May 9, 2019: The Nissan Altima, the car stepdad was driving at the time of the alleged abduction, was located in a Missouri City shopping center parking lot at approximately 10:07 a.m. There were no visible signs of foul play and the car was taken by police for further processing.

Friday, May 10, 2019: News reports surfaced that Maleah was last seen alive on surveillance video in her family’s apartment complex on April 30, the same day her mother left town for a funeral, when security cameras captured the stepdad bringing her back into their family apartment that morning. Investigators say he was never seen with her after that. On May 3, apartment complex security cameras once again captured the stepdad, this time leaving the apartment with his 1+ year old son and a laundry basket with a black trash bag inside of it.

Saturday, May 11, 2019: Maleah’s stepfather was arrested and charged with “tampering with evidence, mainly a corpse.” His bail was set at $1M. Police found blood evidence at the apartment where the family lived. The laundry basket he’d been spotted with on surveillance video and a gas can were found in the trunk of Nissan Altima. While death has not been confirmed, investigators do not think Maleah is still alive.

Note: Maleah, who was still recovering from recent brain surgeries (in March and April) which necessitated the removal of half her skull at the time of her disappearance, had been returned to the family home in February after a CPS investigation was unable to corroborate extensive child abuse allegations.

The Astrology

***Please see my comment at the bottom of this post as it bears repeating. ***

I cast three charts: the Reported Missing, the Alleged Abduction and the Amber Alert astrology charts and gave them all a good look over. Ultimately, I decided to use the Amber Alert chart (8:27 a.m., Sunday, May 5, 2019) due to its reliable and exact timing. In case you were wondering, none of these charts seemed to be talking about a kidnapping caused by two (or three) Hispanic guys. The charts did not seem to be talking about a kidnapping at all. Rather, they appeared to be talking about a child’s death, possibly accidental, possibly a homicide that happened in the heat of the moment.

*******************************************

Note: When analyzing missing person astrology charts from a forensic perspective, I usually place the greatest weight on the Reported Missing chart. Here, however, I did not have an exact time nor was the report made by the stepdad. While the Reported Missing chart in this case provided what I consider to be valid testimonies, I found the testimonies contained in the accurately timed Amber Alert chart more compelling.

**********************************************

Note: While it is not my intention to bore or frustrate non-astrologers with boatloads of technical jargon, a certain amount is needed to illuminate my thought process. That said, please feel free to skip right over it if you are so inclined and head straight for the snippets I have highlighted in red which explain my findings in plain English.

***********************************************

The Amber Alert chart presented several red flags. I will briefly discuss a few that caught my attention. If you are an astrologer, you may see more, including some I may have missed.

  1. Maleah is assigned to the 5th House of Children which contains hidden information (interceptions). The planets that represent her, MERCURY and VENUS, are “hidden” (intercepted) in the 11th House of (among other things) unbonded relationships. This is a strong indication that Maleah has been “hidden” and that the stepdad has something to do with it.
  2. Both of Maleah’s planetary significators are peregrine (unable to help themselves). MERCURY is peregrine and under the Sun’s beam; VENUS is peregrine and in detriment (very poor condition). Maleah was at the mercy of stepdad, unable to help herself.
  3. The MOON is the natural significator of Missing Persons and serves as Maleah’s co-significator as well. While strong in Taurus, the MOON is combust the SUN and in the Kill or Be Killed degree (22° of any sign) and approaching a conjunction with the malefic (evil) Fixed Star ALGOL (associated with losing one’s head, either literally or figuratively). MOON last trined SATURN (a death indicator in and of itself and in this chart the ruler of the 8th House of Death) and the malefic (evil) SOUTH NODE, and is about to trine PLUTO (all three are death indicators) before going void of course, all in the radix 8th House of Death. In addition to co-signifying Maleah, MOON shows the action of the Event under analysis. Its recent past contact with SATURN and the SOUTH NODE strongly suggests Maleah was likely dead at the time the Amber Alert was issued.
  4. SUN and MOON are both in the 12th House of Misfortune, Sorrow and Woe. Emerson’s Point of Death lies between them at 16° Taurus. House placements of the SUN and MOON show strong death testimonies.
  5. The anaretic 29th degree (“end of the train ride” degree) is on the 5th House cusp which is the House assigned to Maleah. This exact degree is also on the 8th House of Death cusp in Maleah’s relocated natal chart cast for sunrise. (While this birth chart is symbolic and not her true natal chart, I have repeatedly found such charts “work” in forensic astrological analysis despite the fact that the Moon position, house cusps and Arabic Parts positions are “incorrect.”) The degree on the cusp of the 5th House of Children suggests a crisis (at best) and an ending (at worst.)
  6. The Arabic Part of Fortune is normally considered “fortunate” in Gemini and in the 1st House. Here, however, it becomes the Part of MISFORTUNE due to its conjunction with MARS (violence) and its square to NEPTUNE (Pisces/12th House connotations of misfortune, sorrow & woe). The placement of the Arabic Part of ‘MISFORTUNE’ in the 1st House indicates violence and unfortunate conditions.

Further comparisons of the Amber Alert chart to Maleah’s natal chart showed additional unfortunate impacts, causing me to fear that the worst had already happened.

Most seriously, Maleah’s natal SUN at 17° Aquarius closely squares the Event chart’s SUN/MOON conjunction at 18° Taurus while her natal MOON estimated here at 15° Virgo squares the Event ASCENDANT 14° Gemini. Additionally, her Secondary Progressed (SP) SUN at 21° Aquarius exactly conjuncts BLACK MOON LILITH (a strong death indicator) with both placements close square the Event MOON in the Kill or Be Killed 22nd degree of Taurus. It is difficult at best to hold out hope when the natal and secondary progressed SUN and MOON are as badly afflicted as they are here.

Where Might She Be?

The astrological placements of Maleah’s significators (MERCURY and VENUS both in Aries, a fire sign) in the Amber Alert chart suggested she could be found “near a fireplace, stove, heater, chimney or outdoors where there has been a fire and near something made of iron… burned ground… unfrequented areas (hiding places)…” (Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson, Simplified Horary Astrology). According to Ivy’s methodology, Maleah should be found within 12- 15 miles of her Last Seen location (the family’s apartment) in an East to SSE direction or conversely, West to NNW. While I’ve only had spotty success with Ivy’s methods of locating Missing Persons, when news of a gas can being found in the trunk of the stepdad’s car came out on Friday, May 10, this “testimony” became more chilling.

The Cartomancy

I read the Lenormand cards on Sunday, May 5, 2019 after casting the Reported Missing astrology chart, and posted the following card draw to my Instagram account:

Initial Lenormand card reading:

HOUSE + BIRDS + SCYTHE + COFFIN + CROSS
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Missing Child Maleah Davis: 04 House + 12 Birds + 10 Scythe + 08 Coffin + 36 Cross – Living with Cards © 2019

Piatnik No. 194115 Mlle Lenormand Jeu de destin

The reading was not at all comforting. It showed a domestic partner or house mate (House + Birds) and a snap decision/ accident/ cutting or severance (Scythe) that led to death (Coffin + Cross). I took this to mean that the stepdad did something, either intentionally or accidentally, that caused the death of Maleah Davis.

Additional Lenormand card spreads:

On Tuesday (May 7, 2019) I threw three more Lenormand card spreads (which I didn’t publicly post) and got the following:

Additional Spread #1:
SUN + TOWER + BOUQUET + MICE + STORKS (over ANCHOR)
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Missing Child Maleah Davis: 31 Sun + 19 Tower + 09 Bouquet + 23 Mice + 17 Storks over 35 Anchor - Living with Cards © 2019
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Missing Child Maleah Davis: 31 Sun + 19 Tower + 09 Bouquet + 23 Mice + 17 Storks over 35 Anchor – Living with Cards © 2019

Piatnik No. 194115 Mlle Lenormand Jeu de destin

Read from a forensic perspective SUN + TOWER symbolizes “the authorities” / “officials in charge.” BOUQUET is a tip and placed over ANCHOR, it is a “solid tip.” MICE + STORKS is something decomposing/ decaying that has been relocated. So what we have here is that the authorities/ persons in charge receive a solid tip concerning a decomposing/ decaying body that has been removed/ placed elsewhere. (On Friday, May 3, apartment complex surveillance captured the stepdad leaving his apartment with his 1+ year old son (and no Maleah) carrying a laundry basket containing a black plastic trash bag. This information was not released to the public until the following Friday, May 10.)

The Lenormand STORKS card carries the meanings of changes (usually for the better), and of moving/ moving house. In forensic cartomancy, however, I’ve found it can symbolize a relocation, a migration of sorts: the moving of someone or something from one place to another. In the spread above, my sense was that was what happened.

It was the card before STORKS, however, that really got to me… MICE suggests deterioration, decay, garbage, soiled articles, and other extremely unpleasant things and states of being. It gave me the impression of a corpse. And of a garbage pile, making me wonder if she was in a landfill.

I kept these thoughts to myself…

Additional Spread #2:
FOX + MOUNTAIN + CHILD + LILIES + CROSSROADS (over BIRDS)
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Missing Child Maleah Davis: 14 Fox + 21 Mountain + 13 Child + 30 Lilies + 22 Crossroads over 12 Birds - Living with Cards © 2019
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Missing Child Maleah Davis: 14 Fox + 21 Mountain + 13 Child + 30 Lilies + 22 Crossroads over 12 Birds – Living with Cards © 2019

Piatnik No. 194115 Mlle Lenormand Jeu de destin

While shuffling, I deliberately charged CHILD to represent Maleah which I then selected along with two cards before and two cards after. FOX mirrors CROSSROADS and MOUNTAIN mirrors LILIES. This spread suggested to me that Maleah is buried/ under ground (LILIES) in a remote area/ isolated place (MOUNTAIN). FOX is likely the stepdad in con-artist mode, trying to throw authorities off-track (CROSSROADS). BIRDS as Base Card could suggest either that the stepdad eventually talks or that cell phone data could lead to the location where he put her.

Additional Spread #3:
RING + LETTER + COFFIN + SCYTHE + SHIP
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Maleah Davis: 25 Ring + 27 Letter + 08 Coffin + 10 Scythe + 03 Ship - Living with Cards © 2019
Forensic Cartomancy Lenormand Card Reading for Maleah Davis: 25 Ring + 27 Letter + 08 Coffin + 10 Scythe + 03 Ship – Living with Cards © 2019

Piatnik No. 194115 Mlle Lenormand Jeu de destin

Here are my thoughts as I jotted them down in my personal daily journal: A written confession?? (RING + LETTER). Accidental death  or a deliberate snap decision to kill (COFFIN + SCYTHE). He put the body in his car (SHIP) and drove to wherever he placed / buried her, then got rid of the car and concocted his cover story.

************************************************

Comment:

In the hope that somehow by the grace of God a miracle could occur, I postponed publication of my findings until today. If you’ve been following this case you know that news released over the weekend pretty much confirmed that Maleah Davis is no longer with us.

Sadly, this case reveals yet another deplorable situation, similar to the A.J. Freund case discussed elsewhere on Living with Cards, where Child Protective Services returned a child to her home after she had been removed, because allegations of physical abuse apparently could not be substantiated.

As I publish this post, the perpetrator’s hearing has been postponed. There has been no confession and Maleah’s remains have not yet been recovered. I can only pray that either a confession and/or cell phone data can lead authorities to wherever he hid her, allowing family, friends and the concerned public to lay this precious baby to rest.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

*** Please review this note regarding my process copied from the Diana Alvarez post located elsewhere on Living with Cards ***

Note regarding my process: I will only examine a Missing Persons case when I have a reasonable understanding of the circumstances surrounding the disappearance, a reliable timeline including the date, time and place the person was either discovered missing and/or reported missing to police, and the victim’s birth data. The birth data of the perpetrator/ prime suspect is helpful as well. I prefer to work with current cases.

Unlike psychics (no disrespect intended), I do not base my findings on dreams or visions, nor do I pull information out of the ethers (or my butt, depending on your level of skepticism). Rather, I read the ‘star language‘ contained in the forensic astrology charts that I examine and interpret it to the best of my ability.

The first step (after familiarizing myself with a case) is always the casting and examination of the relevant astrology chart(s), which are carefully compared to the victim’s natal chart before drawing any conclusions. Once that’s done, I may or may not throw a card spread or two to gain additional information, as I did here. Yes, intuition is involved. So is common sense. Everybody has both of these faculties to some degree or another.

Lenormand Cards Surprising Prediction: Mountain, Scythe, Lilies, Letter, Ship, Coffin

If you’re like me, you probably do not particularly enjoy receiving a handful of dreary, dismal Lenormand cards in your daily card draw. Especially if you’ve only asked a generic, ‘how will my day go?’ type of question. For one thing, if you’re not careful, it could set the tone for the day, drawing negative outcomes through the principal of self-fulfilling prophecy — something I strongly suggest you should consciously attempt to avoid. After all, who wants to go through their day with a nagging cloud of doom and disaster hanging over their head?!

Certainly not me, which is why after pulling the following Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card as my daily card draw a couple mornings ago and finding myself at a loss for any positive or helpful interpretations, I felt a little bummed out.

Q: Heads Up/ Need to Know/ Will Happen

Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 21 Mountain - 10 Scythe - 30 Lilies - 27 Letter - 3 Ship - 8 Coffin http://livingwithcards.com
Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 21 Mountain – 10 Scythe – 30 Lilies – 27 Letter – 3 Ship – 8 Coffin

Under the Roses Lenormand by U.S. Games Systems, Inc.

Yes, I told you these cards were dreary…

*************************************************

News of a death (LETTER with SHIP, COFFIN)? A sudden and possibly unexpected (SCYTHE) passing (SHIP, COFFIN) of an older individual (LILIES), perhaps during surgery to remove an obstruction (MOUNTAIN + SCYTHE) that I learn about via text, email or news report (LETTER)?

**************************************************

Other than the above glum interpretation, I seemed to be drawing a blank. Despite the grim outlook, there was no way I was going to take these cards personally. Nope. Wasn’t gonna do it. Perhaps within a day or two I’d come across some news story or another that played out the particular scenario the Lenormand cards had suggested. In the meantime, I had better things to do, the first of which was making sure the Rescue Kitties got their second course of breakfast. 🙂

What Actually Happened

Later that morning, inspired by a sudden burst of energy, I found myself tackling an onerous chore I had been avoiding forever: serious clutter clearing.

With over two dozen boxes of old files and documents piled up in my living space, I knew I had to get started. Three hours and one huge box later, the message contained in the morning’s Lenormand card draw became crystal clear:

Shredding/ cutting down a “mountain” of old documents (MOUNTAIN, SCYTHE, LILIES, LETTER) and sending them off to their grave (SHIP, COFFIN)!!

Under the Roses Lenormand Card Spread: Mountain + Scythe + Lilies + Letter + Ship + Coffin shows a mountain of old paperwork that has been shredded, sorted, recycled and sent to its grave http://livingwithcards.com
Under the Roses Lenormand Card Spread: Mountain + Scythe + Lilies + Letter + Ship + Coffin shows a mountain of old paperwork that has been shredded, cut down, sorted, recycled and sent to its grave

Once again, I was blown away by the matter-of-fact, tell-it-like-it-is quality of Lenormand cards. As a long-time Tarot card reader, I admit I have a tendency to “dig deep.” With Lenormand cards, that’s really not necessary.

The moral of this post: Do not over-read Lenormand cards! 🙂

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins

Note: I currently have transiting Pluto (purge, purging, recycling) in my natal Third House (paperwork)! — I really should have figured this one out… 🙂

The Blue Bird Lenormand Cards by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. is a lovely little deck that is a pleasure to read and work with. The images on the cards are easily understandable and the verses imprinted on the cards are constructed to give a boost to intuitive insights. The enclosed LWB (Little White Book) by Stuart Kaplan includes a history of Mlle. Lenormand, a brief description of how to read the Grand Tableau (along with an example reading), and short descriptions of each of the 36 cards.

This morning I asked the Blue Bird Lenormand Cards to give advice and commentary on how to best achieve a particular goal during the upcoming months. I drew:

Q: Advice and Commentary on Achieving Goal:

Blue Bird Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 12 Birds - 31 Sun - 5 Tree - 21 Mountain - 24 Heart - 29 Woman http://livingwithcards.com
Blue Bird Lenormand Line of 5 with Base Card: 12 Birds – 31 Sun – 5 Tree – 21 Mountain – 24 Heart – 29 Woman

Note: As usual, I added a Base Card (bottom card of the shuffled deck) to the Lenormand Line of 5 for additional insights or information. Here we see 29 Woman which suggests the cards above it are of importance to the “female asking the question,” or are descriptive of the matter that is currently on the Woman’s mind. (I often get 29 Woman as a base card when asking a question that specifically involves myself. Take notice if you experience a similar correspondence, i.e., drawing a card that generally represents yourself when doing a personal reading, whether it falls as a base card or not. )

The spread is not hard to read.

BIRDS, which suggests thoughts, words, communication and mental activities in general, is followed by SUN + TREE, giving a sense of “healthy, vibrant thinking.”

While MOUNTAIN can describe delays and obstacles, the fact that it is followed by HEART relays the probability that these obstacles can be overcome.

The central or hinge card TREE suggests “health” or “growth,” which exactly symbolizes the question I had in mind.

Always take note if one or more cards in the spread “confirm” the question you had in mind. To borrow an astrological term, that makes the reading “radical,” in my experience. While for me, the “confirmation” card typically falls in the central position or as the base card, it can appear anywhere in the spread, and I always take it as a confirmation that the cards are in fact addressing the question at hand.

****************************************

In the context of “goals,” BIRDS + SUN + TREE + MOUNTAIN + HEART suggests that positive thinking/ declaring the word/ speaking authoritatively, etc. are what is needed to achieve the goal in mind despite any obstacle or delay. HEART at the end of the Line of 5 ensures positive results.

What I’d particularly like to point out here is that with Lenormand cards, one does not need to spend a lot of time “figuring out” what the cards are “trying to say.” Lenormand cards are very here and now in their messages. There is no esoteric layer to muddle through as there may be with Tarot cards. You ask a question, you get an answer. With Lenormand cards, what you see is what you get, which is probably why I enjoy working with them so much.

Now while I won’t go into it here, if I wanted to get more detailed, psychological commentary on how to put the Lenormand’s advice into action, I could consult the Tarot cards for additional insights. But for the moment, I’m happy with the reading and am feeling energized (SUN) and pleased (HEART) about getting on with my day. 🙂

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins
