Lenormand Cards Advice on How an Evening of Mediumship Will Go

Dermyg, a reader of this blog, has scheduled an evening of mediumship this coming Thursday and wants to know how it might go.

Mediumship, clairvoyancy,  divination, and “conversations with the Other Side” are represented by 12 Birds, so I energetically charged that card as I shuffled and asked for information. When the shuffle was complete, I found 12 Birds in the deck and selected the card to its left (3 Ship) and the card to its right (16 Stars).

3 Ship - 12 Birds - 16 Stars - 31 Sun
3 Ship – 12 Birds – 16 Stars – 31 Sun

Mlle. Lenormand Jeu de destin No. 194115 (c) 1986 Piatnik

The three cards selected suggest that the evening of mediumship will bring communication/messages (Birds) from afar (Ship). Stars in the third position suggests the evening will go quite well (hopes fulfilled) and/or the information/ communications (Birds) provided from a long distance away (the Other Side?) (Ship) would be “guided from above.” (Stars).

Instead of using the base card (bottom card of the shuffled deck) for further information, I decided to count the numerical values on the three cards. 3 + 12 + 16 = 31 = 31 Sun, which confirms that Dermyg’s evening of mediumship will be a successful (Sun) event and that his messages from beyond will be well received.

Perhaps, if he finds his way back to this site, Dermyg can let us know how the evening went.

Tarot Advice for Health Issue

The querent is a female in her mid-60s who has been experiencing some health issues. She is skeptical of allopathic medicine because she feels such practitioners tend to “treat the symptoms and not the cause,” and because she “doesn’t want to start taking a bunch of drugs.” Recently she heard about  a female chiropractor with an intuitive, energetic approach and she wants to know if this individual could help her resolve her issues.

I decided to throw a Five Pointed Star tarot spread with a significator* to get some insight into her question.

[Note: in addition to representing either the querent (the person asking the question) or the quesited (that which is inquired about), a significator card can give insight regarding the major theme of the question.]

Tarot Health Issue – 5 Pointed Star Tarot Spread with Significator and Clarification Card

Significator card: the central card, 8 of Pentacles, describes the theme of the reading. For a health related question, this card suggests an imbalance (8) of some sort may be causing the physical (Pentacles) issues the querent is experiencing.

Position #1 – Queen of Pentacles:

The card in this position describes the basis of the question. It reveals the issue under consideration, but will not affect the outcome. I felt the Queen of Pentacles was describing the chiropractor the querent was considering consulting as an intuitive, practical, results-oriented professional with a hands-on manner. In fact, out of the 78 cards of the Tarot, I can think of no other card which would better describe a female chiropractor!

Position #2 – 6 of Pentacles:

The card in this position reveals the querent’s thoughts or mindset regarding the matter, whether she anticipates success or failure, what the querent may fear and/or what is causing concern. Typically, the card in this position shows how the querent is influencing the question by her thoughts. 6 of Pentacles in this position suggests an equitable exchange of money for services rendered and also indicates the querent expects to receive valuable assistance from this practitioner. In other words, the querent’s mindset regarding this practitioner is positive and she is anticipating positive results.

Position #3 – 10 of Swords:

The card in this position reveals additional information about the situation, of which the querent may or may not be aware, that needs to be considered. 10 of Swords in Position #3 speaks to the querent’s displeasure with allopathic practices and emphasizes a change of doctors or an alternative therapy may be warranted.

Position #4 – 10 of Pentacles:

The card in this position answers the question. This card may also provide advice and/or guidance on how to handle the situation. As “The Answer,” 10 of Pentacles suggests satisfaction with the treatment the querent will receive from the chiropractor, and that contracting her will be a good investment of the querent’s money.

Position #5 – 8 of Cups:

The card in this position shows the Probable Outcome, going beyond the answer found in Position #4, to a final conclusion. 8 of Cups in Position #5 points to the issue of balance vs. imbalance (8), likely in hormones (Cups). My sense was that the chiropractor would be successful in identifying hormonal imbalances in the querent’s body, which, once identified, could be corrected.

*********

I note that four of the six cards in this draw are Pentacles, which is a physical suit dealing with money and health. Interestingly, both issues were on the querent’s mind — her health issues and the money she might need to spend to address them. Additionally, IX-The Hermit as the clarification card is associated with the zodiacal sign of Virgo, a physical Earth sign associated with health.

Queen of Pentacles in Position #1 described the chiropractor as a practical and results-oriented, intuitive professional woman and 6 of Pentacles in Position #2 showed the querent’s expectations that she would receive good value for her money by consulting this practitioner. 10 of Swords in Position #3 suggested the querent felt she was “the end of her rope” concerning her issues and that it was time to try an alternative therapy. 10 of Pentacles in the 4th Position confirmed contracting the chiropractor would be an excellent investment that promised a satisfactory outcome in resolving her health issues. 8 of Cups in Position #5 suggested the treatments would uncover a hormonal (Cups) imbalance (8) which could then be addressed. Finally, IX-Hermit as the Clarification Card suggested that a health (Virgo) issue needed to be further analyzed and that she had been intuitively guided to this particular practitioner. I encouraged her to act on her intuitions.

Lenormand Daily Draw: Snake, Garden, Key, Sun, Dog, Lilies

Unlike Tarot, Lenormand is a literal, not symbolic, cartomancy system. Sometimes a dog is just a dog, as shown in today’s daily draw:

7 Snake - 20 Garden - 33 Key - 31 Sun - 18 Dog - 30 Lilies
7 Snake – 20 Garden – 33 Key – 31 Sun – 18 Dog – 30 Lilies

Mlle. Lenormand Jeu de destin No. 194115 (c) 1986 Piatnik

My usual morning routine consists of asking my cards to show me something that will happen, or something I need to know.  Today’s cards suggested some type of problem (Snake), possibly a publicity problem (Garden), that would have an effective resolution (Key + Sun). Key plus the base card Lilies suggested the solution (Key) would be long-lasting (Lilies). Since Dog often represents my son, I thought maybe he would have something to do with the effective resolution of the problem.

What Actually Happened:

Mid-morning or so, my son (Dog) poked his head into my computer room to tell me that a runaway dog (Snake + Dog = dog problem; problem involving a dog) had been captured in our back yard (Garden)! Apparently the dog had gotten loose somewhere in an adjacent neighborhood and a concerned citizen took it upon herself to follow the dog as it zig-zagged across streets and yards. She also called the police, who sent out someone from animal control.

Eventually, the dog, the woman and the animal control guy all wound up in my back yard, where the animal control guy (an older (Lilies) man), successfully apprehended the dog without further incident (Key + Sun).

Lenormand Cards Confirm Death of a Pet

This is an entry from my daily journal:

On August 3, 2013, I asked the Lenormand cards,

‘What is in my immediate future – the next 35 days or so?’

I pulled:

30 Lilies - 8 Coffin - 3 Ship - 18 Dog - 13 Child - 2 Clover
30 Lilies – 8 Coffin – 3 Ship – 18 Dog – 13 Child – 2 Clover

Mlle. Lenormand Jeu de destin No. 194115 (c) 1986 Piatnik

Here’s how I interpreted the cards:

Death of a pet. My dear kitty Sasha is on her way out. Dog + Child = puppy, small pet. (Dog can refer to pets in general, including cats.)

She’s old (Lilies), small (Child), a pet (Dog), and she’s on her way out (Coffin + Ship).

Clover indicates 2 months / 2 weeks / 2 days.

What Actually Happened:

My sweet, little 18 year old kitty, Sasha, had been losing weight over the summer at an alarming rate, and I was just beginning to realize she’d lost her hearing as well. I knew something was up. Despite the cards I had drawn, I remained in denial. I wasn’t ready to let her go.

Sasha took a turn for the worse approximately two weeks (Clover) after the date of the draw. The week of 8/19 was very bad. By Sunday, 8/25, it was certain she was dying. On Monday, 8/26, I called a local vet and arranged to bring her in for euthanasia. Sasha was given a lethal injection at 10:45 am on Monday, 8/26/2013.

I cried all day.

All week.

On and off through September, and into October…

Approximately two months later (Clover), Charlie and Midnight came into my home and my life.

Charlie & Midnight
Charlie & Midnight

Charlie and Midnight are Rescue Kitties, abandoned when their family pulled up stakes and left town. Charlie, the orange guy, is about 3 or 4 years old and as friendly and cuddly and playful as can be. Midnight, an older, toothless gent of about 7, purrs up a storm, eats like there’s no tomorrow, and wakes me up every morning by poking his paw in my face . I still miss my sweet Sasha, and always will, but I’ve grown to love my new Kitty Boys.

Lenormand Cards Weekly Draw: Tower, Coffin, Scythe, Mountain, Clover, Rider

On Sundays, instead of doing a daily draw, I usually take a look at the week ahead, asking for a heads up on what might occur.

Here are the cards I pulled this morning:

19 Tower - 8 Coffin - 10 Scythe - 21 Mountain - 2 Clover - 1 Rider
19 Tower – 8 Coffin – 10 Scythe – 21 Mountain – 2 Clover – 1 Rider

Mlle. Lenormand Jeu de destin No. 194115 (c) 1986 Piatnik

The Lenormand cards seemed to be following up on a situation I’d heard about yesterday when I was alerted that an older gentleman friend had wound up in the hospital after experiencing what appeared to be a stroke.

This morning’s cards showed the sudden (Scythe) hospitalization (Tower + Coffin), and went on to indicate a potentially slow and possibly challenging recovery (Mountain + Clover). Rider as the base card suggested I will get an update on the situation sometime this week.

While Clover at the end of the Line of 5 is encouraging and suggestive of recovery, I know this card has a temporary influence, so I can’t help but worry a bit about my friend’s long term prospects.

On the other hand, perhaps Clover is simply saying that this old boy will luck out & be sent home as good as new. I think I’d rather focus on that outcome for now.

Blessings,

Mary Hawkins
